The workhorse of abrasives, aluminum oxide is commonly used on soft and hard woods, nonferrous metals such as aluminum, and certain steels.
Zirconium oxide has high heat resistance for high-pressure grinding and machining applications. It is a staple of steel fabrication shops. Zirconium handles stainless and tool steels, nickel alloy, aluminum, titanium, cast iron, and carbon steel.
Keep a supply of extra belts on hand. Worn, torn, or scratched belts can impact the quality of your results and should be replaced.
